Peer Wellness Services

Peer Wellness Services provides students with a student-led wellness space and service on campus where students can drop by and meet informally with other students without commitment. Students get to know each other at their own pace, build connections based on mutual respect and trust, and provide/receive non-judgmental support and a listening ear.

Peer Wellness Navigators (PWNs), who are paid, trained full-time enrolled Conestoga students, provide supportive listening and facilitate wellness activities and a sense of connection within The Breathing Space, our designated wellness lounges.

Gender-based violence can happen at home, at school, at work and virtually. This includes domestic violence and intimate partner violence.

Community supports

I want to support someone

If someone discloses to you that they have experienced sexual or gender-based violence:

  1. LISTEN. Don't ask for unnecessary details and try to be mindful of your reactions.
  2. Ask how they would like to be supported.
  3. Let them know you believe them and that it is not their fault.

If you are an employee supporting a student, let the student know that Conestoga has a Sexual & Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Support Office to help in this situation. Ask the student if you can make a referral on their behalf by emailing sgbv@conestogac.on.ca or calling 519-748-5220, ext. 3079.

Conestoga Consent Culture

To get involved and learn more about consent, check out the Conestoga Consent Culture (login required) series of workshops, events and courses that help the Conestoga community in our pursuit to end gender-based violence. Consent culture offers ongoing workshops that teach participants the importance of consent in all our relationships and help people dismantle the norms that uphold rape culture. Consent culture also supports students by directing them to appropriate college and community resources.

Confidentiality
