Top Tips:

  • Do your homework

In order to give a good presentation you need to put in some serious time preparing for it. Do your research so you know what you are talking about. You don't need to be an expert, but having knowledge of the subject will allow you to speak with confidence.

  • Structure your presentation as an essay

Create an agenda for your presentation. Organize your thoughts into three main sections: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion just as you would for an essay. This not only helps you stay organized, but helps your audience follow along with your presentation.

  • Use presentation aids

Presentation aids reinforce your message and give your audience an additional way to learn and understand your material. They also give the audience something to look at, taking their eyes, and the pressure, off of you! Just be sure to fully explain any materials during your presentation.

  • Practice, practice, practice

You know the saying - practice makes perfect! Run through your presentation to work out the timing and flow. Presenting is just like any other skill, the more you do it the better you become at it.
